Trinidad and Tobago golfer Isaiah Rowley has started his campaign at the 2022 Junior Open championships at Monifieth Links, Angus, Scotland.
The 12-year-old recently represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships in Puerto Rico.
Rowley started playing golf at the age of five years and has won the Republic Bank Caribbean Junior Open Golf Championships nine-hole title in 2018 and 2019.
He also won the Boys 11-13 category at the same tournament in 2021 and 2022.
Rowley, who is the youngest competitor at the Junior Open Championships, told LoopTT he was looking forward to representing the country in Scotland.
“I am really excited as I get to meet new people, get to play a new course I haven’t played before, and as well, I get to play in the same week of The Open Championships. I will also be able to get some more exposure, especially if I do well,” he said.
The teenager wants to play golf professionally but at this time he is focused on playing the sport at the collegiate level in the USA.
“I would like to play professionally. This is my end goal. However, right now, I am looking to advance my college career in the next few years,” Rowley added.
The R&A Junior Open Championships run from 11-13 July at Monifieth Links.
