Trinidad and Tobago’s cyclists have dominated the opening two days of the Caribbean Cycling Championships at the National Cycling Velodrome in Couva.
On Friday, T&T’s elite men’s sprint team of Kwesi Browne, Zion Pulido, and Ryan D’Abreau took gold, while the quartet of Maurice Burnette, Tariq Woods, Enrique de Comarmond, and Liam Trepte took silver in the elite men’s team pursuit.
A day later, Browne returned to the track to take gold in the elite men’s sprint, defeating Bryan Lopez of Cuba in the final.
Pulido took bronze in the event, beating teammate D’Abreau in the battle for third place.
Also taking gold on Saturday was Alexi Ramirez who won the elite women’s scratch race ahead of Barbados’ Amber Joseph.
However, Ramirez was forced to take silver in the elite women’s elimination final with Joseph winning gold.
Other local medal winners on Saturday were Phoebe Sandy who took bronze in the elite women’s 500m time trial (36.019 seconds), and Samuel Moloney won the junior men’s sprint.
Devante Lawrence took silver, while Jarel Mohammed took third in a T&T sweep.
Trepte added a bronze medal in the elite men’s scratch race to his silver medal in the men’s team pursuit.
The third and final day of the Caribbean Cycling Championships is on Sunday.
