A 12-member jury on Wednesday found three men not guilty of the murder of Grant Village Crabwood Creek farmer, Cheddie Eshwar Sawh who was brutally attacked by a gang of men in 2017.

The men, Riaz Hack, called “Plar”, 28, Reaz Munroe, called “Ray”, 23, and Sunil Mannieram called “Buddy”, 28, all of Crabwood Creek were on trial before Justice Navindra Singh at the Berbice High Court.

They had denied murdering Sawh, called “Markie” on July 29, 2017.

The jury, after deliberating for over two hours on Wednesday, returned with the unanimous not guilty verdicts.

On July 23, 2017, 24-year-old Sawh was found unconscious with blood emanating from his mouth and other injuries about his body on the Grant Village Crabwood Creek Public Road on the Corentyne.

It is alleged that Sawh was brutally beaten by a six men who were armed with pieces of wood.

He was first rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital and eventually to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died without regaining consciousness on July 29, 2017
