Watch out for flash flooding, landslips and fallen trees as heavy showers and thunderstorms affect the country today.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued an Adverse Weather Alert – Yellow Level, for Trinidad and Tobago, warning of heavy showers and a high (70%) chance of thunderstorm activity.

The Met Office said these conditions are expected to continue intermittently overnight.

The Met Office warned that gusty winds and street/flash flooding are likely near heavy downpours.

The public is urged to secure their homes and avoid driving or walking through flood waters – those in flood-prone areas are urged to have an emergency plan if needed.
