Drivers heading into Diego Martin are advised of the closure of part of the Diego Martin highway, both north and southbound lanes, heading into Diego Martin, from Saturday night.
In an update NIDCO and the Ministry of Works and Transport said from 10pm Saturday, August 27, the north and southbound lanes of the highway in the vicinity of Victoria Keyes will be closed to traffic until Monday, August 29 at 3am.
As a result, drivers heading into Diego Martin will need to continue along the Western Main road and utilize Westland Avenue (passing near St Finbar’s Church) to get in and out of Diego Martin and to access Morne Coco Road.
NIDCO said access to the Diego Martin highway between the Four Roads intersection and the Western Main Road will only be accessible to residents of Victoria Keyes, Dangerous Corner, Mary Street, Wilson Road, Cuthbert Circular and environs.
The agency said a temporary diversion will be in place in the vicinity of Wilson road for residents to access Four Roads intersection and two-way traffic will be in place on the Diego Martin Highway, northbound, from the Diego Martin Main Road to Victoria Villas, to facilitate residents in that area.
The company said residents of Victoria Gardens and Victoria Villas should access their homes via the Diego Martin Main Road, whilc Victoria Keyes residents can access their homes via the existing northern entrance from the highway and the existing southern entrance via Powder Magazine Road. The company said Egress from Victoria Keres will be from the existing southern exit onto Powder Magazine road.
NIDCO said two-way traffic will be in place along the southbound lane of the highway between Powder Magazine Road and the Western Main Road to facilitate residents in that area.
Motorists are also advised to proceed with caution and obey instructions from officials on site.
