Tobago: As part of this year’s Caribbean Tourism Month celebrations, several of Tobago’s secondary school tourism youth clubs, including Roxborough Secondary, Signal Hill Secondary, and Bishops High School, participated in an initiative to spread positivity and affirm their peers, in keeping with the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s theme of “Caribbean Wellness.”

The wellness activity was aimed at encouraging the students to develop their social and emotional skills, which would further equip them to positively influence their peers, bolster their self-esteem, and foster greater confidence in their abilities and attaining their goals.

In executing this activity, the Youth Club members were asked to design a tree using recycled materials and display it in a central area of the school, using sticky notes and markers to note affirming messages and motivational quotes that were attached to the branches of the tree.

In the end, students expressed sentiments of happiness and were more motivated, having been given the opportunity to help their peers feel better about themselves.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Rhonda Hackett of Bishop’s High School, Patrice Caruth of Signal Hill Secondary School, and Charles of Roxborough Secondary School for their contributions to the success of this outstanding student initiative.

The Division has committed to duly rewarding the participating schools as they continue the thrust to promote tourism awareness among the youth.

The Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities, and Transportation extends heartfelt thanks to everyone responsible for the successful execution of this year’s Caribbean Tourism Month celebrations.

Caribbean Tourism Month is annually celebrated during the month of November. In keeping with this, the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation (DoTCAT) hosted its well anticipated Wellness Day which focused on the overall wellbeing of staff and stakeholders.

This hallmark event was held on Wednesday November 30th, 2022, at the scenic Pigeon Point Heritage Park Pavilion.

The day’s events included massages, yoga, horseback riding, an aerobic burnout competition, and informative presentations on lifestyle diseases, mental health, and financial wellness.

The DoTCAT’s Administrator, MCherry-Ann Edwards-Louis, delivered the official welcome to kick start the activities.

Special thanks are extended to the DoTCAT’s Programme Coordination Unit, ably led by Programme Coordinator, Sandra Orr-Toney and other staff members of the Division.

This is in addition to the hardworking teams from the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL), the Tobago Performing Arts Company (TPAC), the Tobago Festivals Commission Limited (TFCL) and all other stakeholders who contributed to making the Wellness Day initiative a successful one.

To culminate the Division’s Caribbean Tourism Month celebrations, the Division hosted a ‘Team DoTCAT Excursion, Cookout and Lime’ for members of staff of the Division, its satellite offices and companies under its purview.

This event took place on December 02nd and commenced with a Scavenger Hunt at some of the island’s forts. This was followed by a cooking competition, T-5 cricket tournament, all-4s competition, and other novelty events.
