Three men have been hospitalised following an accident in Manzanilla on Sunday.

The injured individuals are aged 22, 23, and 27, and are all from the Sangre Grande and Manzanilla communities.

According to police reports, the 22-year-old was driving his vehicle along the Eastern Main Road with the two other occupants when around 12:20pm he lost control of the vehicle near Santa Collota Road.

The car crashed into a pole next to the roadway, resulting in all three occupants suffering serious injuries.

The driver suffered injuries to his head; the 27-year-old suffered injuries to his head, chest, and sustained a broken right foot; while the other passenger suffered injuries to his face and hip.

The accident was so severe that the 27-year-old was even trapped in the vehicle for some time, until FSSO Persad and a team of officers were able to free him.

All three men were medically examined on the scene before being taken for treatment at the Sangre Grande Hospital.

Cpl Nanhoo is continuing inquiries.
