Police said five people, including four teenage girls, were rescued on Sunday from an apartment in Cunupia where they were allegedly being held against their will.
Loop News was told the five were found at the apartment, located along Munroe Road, after police received key intelligence of the activities which were taking place at the home.
An operation was launched yesterday led by Insp Pitt and W-Cpl Walters.
Officers said they received intelligence from Venezuelan activist Yesenia Gonzales that a group of around 12 people were allegedly being held against their will at the apartment.
On Saturday night, Gonzales was able to rescue two of the girls, aged 17 and 16, after they were found hiding in the bushes near the apartment.
She notified the police and an operation was launched at around 2am in the area.
Police said three others were rescued from the apartment.
The two girls who were rescued by Gonzales were handed over on Sunday afternoon to police and statements were recorded.
Police said the five were taken for medical treatment and were due to be further questioned on Monday.
More on this as it becomes available.
