Police are searching for a Morvant man after he reportedly dropped a MAC11 submachine gun loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition.
According to reports, the find was made on Friday morning during a police patrol by officers of the North Eastern Division Intelligence Unit, including PCs Dass, PC Marshall, and PC Ferguson.
The officers observed a man known to them standing along the roadway, and they approached him. However, when the man saw the lawmen, he dropped the gun and fled the scene.
The police pursued but the suspect made good his escape.
The item was seized and has since been cataloged to be sent for ballistic testing.
