All City Zone service has been suspended on the Long Island Rail Road between Jamaica and Penn Station early Tuesday after the railroad said an equipment train struck an unauthorized person on the tracks near Woodside.
The railroad made the announcement at 5:26 a.m.
The severity of the incident was not immediately clear and it also was not clear how long the service suspension will last.
The railroad said New York City Transit is cross-honoring tickets in the meantime and said updates will be provided throughout the early morning.
In the service status statement issued by the railroad, officials said MTA Police, EMS crews and LIRR personnel were on-scene at the accident site.
