West Indies women’s team batting coach, Robert Samuels, is pleased with the progress made at the 12-day camp which ended in Antigua on Thursday.
West Indies women will host England at home later in 2022 before heading to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa early in 2023.
Samuels said the players got a lot out of the camp as they worked on “specifics.”
“We have been working with the players on specific skills batting, bowling, and fielding care targeting specific things,” said Samuels.
“Basically for example, where your field, are you a point fielder, a boundary rider… we have done it in the past and we are trying to put people in the position and trying to get them to be the best that they can be in that position,” the former West Indies batsman added.
Samuels said that the team is moving in the right direction.
“I thought we got a lot out of the camp, a lot more understanding, and the players appreciate the work that was done,” Samuels added.
Details of the England women’s tour of the West Indies have not been announced.
The West Indies have been drawn with England, India, Pakistan, and Ireland at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup from 10-27 February.
West Indies women lost to New Zealand in their last home series in ODIs (2-1) and T20Is (4-1).
