Police are searching for three men after they allegedly attacked and tried to rob a rideshare driver.
The incident allegedly took place at about 8pm along Semp Avenue in Arima.
The victim, a 19-year-old, told police that he was in his car when he got a notification to pick up passengers along Green Street in Arima.
When he arrived at the location, he met three people who entered his vehicle.
However, upon reaching the vicinity of Semp Avenue, one of the men pulled out a firearm.
The group announced a hold-up, and one of the men seated in the rear passenger seat placed the 19-year-old in a headlock.
The armed suspect then exited the car and walked to the driver’s door.
However, the driver used this opportunity to speed away from the scene.
The other two suspects, on seeing that the armed individual was nowhere near, opened the door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.
The victim made his way to the police station and a team of officers led by PC Noriega responded.
Arrests are said to be imminent.
