Rejection of US hostility against Cuba grows in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) Argentine political organizations and unions joined on Thursday several groups in condemning from Buenos Aires the recent US government decision to include Cuba on a list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
In a communique, the Evita Movement condemned Washington’s new aggression and stressed that including Cuba on that list is part of another chapter in the history of sieges and attacks by the Trump administration that in the last few years has tightened and worsened the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the neighboring island.

‘We denounce this unjust and illegitimate measure promoted by a government in decline, without moral basis and responsible for having sponsored and financed countless acts of terrorism against Cuba,’ the organization stated.

The Evita Movement highlights how Cuba has shown over the years its enormous humanism and commitment to peace and, despite the economic siege it has endured for more than six decades, it has maintained a foreign policy based on cooperation and solidarity with the rest of the countries globally.

For its part, the Argentine Union of Leather Manufacturing (SAMC, in Spanish language) also expressed its strong rejection of the US attack on Cuba and rejected terrorism in all its forms.

In the last few days, the Communist Party of Argentina also expressed solidarity with the Cuban Revolution facing the new US attacks, an action described as a cynical demonstration of the harassment policy the Trump administration maintains in the last few days of his term.
