The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) has confirmed that its San Fernando depot is now operational following the disruption of services on Wednesday.

In a media release yesterday, PTSC alerted commuters of “illegitimate industrial action” taken by the Transport Industrial Workers Union(TIWU). PTSC said, as a result, it experienced disruptions to its operations and scheduled services out of the San Fernando depot.

It said, “There will be an adverse impact on our commuters, especially working individuals and the elderly who depend solely on our buses to get to their respective destinations.”

It also advised commuters to seek alternative travel arrangements for the day.

However according to PTSC chairman Edwin Gooding, following a meeting between management and TIWU on Wednesday, the drivers agreed to resume their service around 2.30 pm,

He said, “We had a little impasse down in San Fernando, which emanated out of the drivers refusing to work on the basis of issues they were raising. It continued into the morning and we met with the union and we have come to an agreement that there are issues that we need to fix. On the PTSC side, we will fix them.”
