Several parts of Trinidad has been plunged into darkness.
This, as power outages have been reported across the island.
Just after 10 pm on Monday, citizens from several areas took to social media to share that they were without electricity.
So far, the areas affected are:
- Diego Martin
- Fyzabad
- Penal
- Chaguanas
- La Brea
- Siparia
- Tabaquite
- South Oroprouche
- Rio Claro
- Arouca
- Arima
- Marabella
- La Romain
Last week, the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission announced scheduled outages in several areas due to planned maintenance work.
These outages were carded to end between 3pm and 4pm today.
The affected areas included: Fyzabad, San Francique, Siparia, Sangre Grande, Belmont, Penal, San Juan, Caroni, Valencia, Princes Town, La Romaine, Libertville, St Croix and Maracas/St Joseph.
Attempts to contact TTEC were futile.
