Police said they detained two people and issued 29 fixed penalty tickets during a police operation in Tunapuna and Arouca.
The operation was overseen by Snr Sup Ramphall and Sup Powder.
The officers conducted operations in the two communities along the Eastern Main Road between midday and 9:30 pm on Tuesday.
During the operation officers said they had cause to issue fixed penalty tickets for various violations including driving without insurance, driving while on a cellular phone, and driving defective vehicles.
Police said nine drivers were also administered breathalyzer tests, however, all nine were below the legal limit.
Police said the two men, a 28-year-old who was found wearing camouflage clothing, and a 31-year-old man who was wanted in the Tunapuna district for gang-related inquiries, were held for questioning.
More on this as it becomes available.
