A confrontation with police in Sea Lots last night has left one man dead.
The deceased has yet to be positively identified up to 9am today.
According to police reports officers of the Port of Spain Division were conducting patrols along Production
Avenue in Sea Lots when at about 7.30pm they observed two men liming near the roadway.
The men, on seeing the police vehicle, reportedly pulled out guns and shot at the car. The officers took evading actions and returned fire.
One man was shot, while the other escaped on foot.
Police took the wounded man to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was declared dead.
A Glock 19 pistol was recovered on the scene.
