Trinidad and Tobago gymnast Annalise Newman-Achee made her World Artistic Gymnastics Championships debut on the weekend despite a devastating fall during training.
During a training session at the 51st edition of the Championships in Liverpool, the 17-year-old fell while working on the uneven bars.
Newman-Achee was taken to the hospital and placed under medical observation for 24 hours before being cleared to compete.
She competed, producing an all-around score of 43.599 in the floor and vault routines.
Newman-Achee, who was born in the USA, is eligible to compete for Trinidad and Tobago due to her father.
She represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 2021 Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
