National U19 cricket coach Amin Forgenie was awarded a Certificate of Distinction after completing the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Level III Coaching Program.
Forgenie, who coaches St Benedict’s College in secondary school cricket, has also been head coach of Moosai Sports, Jenexcon Tableland, and Barrackpore United Sports Club.
He has won several titles in local cricket at the national club level, TT Cricket Board Youth Inter-Zonal competitions, and secondary school cricket.
Forgenie received the Certificate of Distinction this week, with a congratulatory email from CWI Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams.
“I am indeed humbled by this privilege of attaining my Level III Coaching Accreditation, with Distinction. This was possible through God’s grace and years of dedication and hard work,” Forgenie stated.
He thanked his Mentor Coach, former West Indies wicketkeeper David Williams, and former national senior team head coach Kelvin Williams for their assistance in his development.
“I have definitely learned a lot from these two servants of cricket who would have played a major part in the development of almost all our cricketers in the past decade, to this day, they continue to toil and sometimes with very little appreciation,” Forgenie said.
The CWI High-Performance Coach Program was developed in partnership with the University of the West Indies and was launched in September 2021.
Forgenie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sport and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management.
He continues to work with some of the most promising young players in Trinidad and Tobago including Djenaba Joseph, Crystian Thurton, Antonio Gomez, Jabari Mills, and Lemuel Matthews.
“I trust God that this is not the end of my coaching journey and that I will be given the opportunity to positively impact more young members of our society. Although no one knows what the future holds and I look forward to furthering my career and remain open to the prospect of learning and developing as a cricket coach, ” said Forgenie.
