A Morvant man was shot dead on Thursday afternoon in Carenage.
The deceased has been identified as Menelik Labbay.
According to police reports, at about 3pm Labbay and a group of friends went to Haig Street to meet someone to purchase marijuana.
However, when they arrived at the location, they were confronted by two gunmen.
The men announced a hold-up and attempted to rob the group.
Labbay reportedly attempted to flee the scene and he was shot by the gunmen.
The suspects then fled the scene.
The police were notified and officers of the Western Division responded.
Labbay’s body was found on a track off Haig Street with bullet wounds to the head.
He was taken to the St James Hospital, however, he succumbed to his wounds while undergoing treatment.
