An active tropical wave to the east of the Windward Islands is expected to produce cloudy skies with intermittent periods of showers and a medium to high chance of thunderstorm activity.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said these conditions can persist from the middle of this week and into the start of the weekend due to the approach and passage of this tropical wave.
The US National Hurricane Centre forecast a low (20 per cent) chance of the tropical wave developing into a tropical cyclone in 48 hours and a low (30 per cent) chance of development in five days.
The TTMS said regardless of development, moist and unstable conditions would exist over the islands, and Trinidad and Tobago would experience cloudiness and rains.
At this time, no alerts, watches or warnings are in effect for Trinidad and Tobago.
The TTMS said it will continue to monitor this tropical wave and will issue and update at 12pm tomorrow (October 3, 2022) or earlier if the situation warrants.
