Heavy rainfall due to the passage of the Invest #91L impacted operations at some of the Water and Sewerage Authority’s Surface Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) in the Northern Region and parts of Tobago.
As conditions continue to normalise, restorative works have progressed with several facilities having returned to service.
In the North East, several plants have been returned to service: Caura, Acono, Aripo, Lluengo/Naranjo, Guanapo, Cumuto, Grande Riviere, and Tacarigua Well.
While there are challenges with flooded intakes and broken lines at Biche and Matura respectively, river conditions are being assessed to commence cleaning works elsewhere.
In the North West, 50 per cent of the facilities are back in operation. At the rest of facilities, river conditions are being assessed to commence cleaning works.
In Tobago, the majority of facilities are back up and running. Only Hillsborough West and Highlands Road are still be brought back on stream.
