The production of Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the 2019 movie Joker, began with a first look at Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck.

In an Instagram post on December 11, director Todd Phillips showed a teaser image to let people know that work on the movie was about to start.

The picture showed a bruised and shirtless Phoenix getting a shave at what looked like a place. “Day 1. Our boy. Phillips wrote, “#Joker.”

Phoenix played the role for the first time in the 2019 movie Joker, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. The movie tells how Batman’s main enemy, the Joker, came to be. He was the second actor to win an Oscar for his role as the Joker.

We don’t know much about the plot of the upcoming sequel, but we know that it will now be a musical and that singer Lady Gaga will play Joker’s partner in crime, Harley Quinn.

Zazie Beetz will also be back for the sequel, and Harry Lawtey, Jacob Lofland, and Brendan Gleeson will join the cast.

Joker: Folie à Deux is going to come out in October 2024.
