The Guyana Police Force is investigating the alleged wounding of a 36-year-old woman of Berbice by her ex-husband.
Investigations revealed that on Sunday the female victim received several chop (cutlass) wounds at the hands of her reputed husband, with whom she ended their relationship three months ago.
Reports indicate the victim was at a wash bay after 1 pm when the suspect exited a motor car with a cutlass, walked up to her vehicle, and started chopping the front windshield.
The victim was sitting in her car at the time. She exited the vehicle, and the suspect dealt her several chops about her body.
A Police Constable who was at the wash bay intervened and escorted the victim to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where she was seen and examined by a doctor on duty.
Shortly after, the victim was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for the injuries received.
The suspect, a 55-year-old businessman, was arrested and is assisting the police in this ongoing investigation.
