Police are investigating a report of a gunfight in Belmont which took place on Monday afternoon.
No one appeared to be injured, however, the gunshots could be heard throughout the capital city, with some reports coming that the weaponry was heard as far as Woodbrook.
Police said the exchange began at about 2pm and lasted for about 5 minutes.
Based on initial information, persons from Argyle Street attempted to enter Richardson Lane however the action was greeted by gunfire.
Persons reportedly returned fire, before both groups dispersed.
Officers of the Port of Spain Task Force and the Inter-Agency Task Force responded, but no one was held.
Patrols have been ordered in the community and are to take place today.
