Eight people were arrested on Saturday morning following an altercation with the police in Arima.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 6 am along Queen Street, in the vicinity of Hearty Foods.
A team of officers led by Cpl Sandy was on patrol when they observed a group of persons in the middle of the roadway. Upon driving closer, the group appeared to be in a physical confrontation.
The officers brought their vehicle to a stop and announced themselves and attempted to disperse the crowd.
However, several persons continued behaving in a disorderly manner and began throwing glass bottles at the officers.
The lawmen then rounded up eight persons, as the group dispersed.
The group, who are between the ages of 19 and 35, are expected to be charged with a variety of offences including disorderly behaviour, using threatening language, obstruction of police duties, and resisting arrest.
