Nicholas Balkishun, a 28-year-old tailor of Best Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was charged on Thursday with assault committed on a police officer, disorderly behaviour, and driving under the influence.
Balkishun was arrested on Wednesday. He made his appearance before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to all the charges.
He was fined $10,000 for disorderly behaviour, $10,000 for assaulting the officer and $7,500 for driving under the influence.
Two additional charges for damage to property and abusive language will be laid on Monday, November 28, at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.
