Dominica Rose “Minnie” Wontroba, 89, of Uniontown, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 in Uniontown Hospital.

She was born December 11, 1932 in Smock, daughter of the late Angelo Poli and Diletta Dionisio Poli.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. “Jocko” Wontroba; sister, Anna Marie Georgiana; and son-in-law, Greg Rhodes.

Minnie was a graduate of St. John’s High School. She was a member of Central Christian Church.

Minnie was a Foster Mother for many years and later worked at Echo Child Development and enjoyed working with the children.

Left to cherish Minnie’s life are her children: Mark A. Wontroba and wife LuAnn of Uniontown, Barbara VanVerth and husband Robert of Uniontown and Terri Rhodes of Morgantown, W.Va.; brothers: Frank Poli, Louis Poli and wife Nancy, Silvio Poli and wife Theodora and Angelo Poli and wife Nancy; sisters: Florence Stella and husband Renato and Angela Georgiana and husband, John; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, where friends will be received from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28th.

Visitation will continue in the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Heather Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Minnie may be made to Central Christian Church Youth Group, 23 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA 15401.
