Several landslips and landslides within the Cumuto/ Manzanilla constituency are currently gaining the attention of the Ministry of Works and Transport and according to Line Minister Rohan Sinanan in the Parliament today, repair works are underway.

The Minister was asked by Cumuto/ Manzanilla MP Dr Rai Ragbir as to what measures were being taken to address the situation and Sinanan noted that the area is just another one prone to landslides and landslips.

The Minister said in the Bonaire Road which falls under the constituency, there are three existing landslips due to the recent passing of Tropical Cyclone 2. He noted however that one of the landslips at the 0.5km mark has deteriorated.

“The Ministry of Works is co-ordinating to ensure that the road remains passable and the three landslips are at different stages in implementing rehabilitation works. The Ministry will continue to ensure that the roads remain passable while interim work is being done in the critical areas,” Sinanan assured.
