The charity Gala night of Brian Mac Farlane’s Christmas Joy, held at Queen’s Hall on Sunday 13 November, saw the return of the Magic associated with the Christmas-themed musical production.
As expected, the audience was blown away by the creativity showcased on stage coupled with the impeccable voices singing classic Christmas ballads.
Christmas Joy took a hiatus for the past two years because of the Pandemic and Mac Farlane said he wanted to wait until it was safe to restart the musical.
He also expressed his desire to see the joy on the faces of the patrons, which would not have been possible with masks on.
Destra Garcia, known for her soca hits, featured as the headline act and was well-received by an appreciative audience.
Speaking to Loop after the nearly two-hour-long show, Mac Farlane said he was elated by the response of the patrons having waited for two years to have this magical experience. He lamented that many of those who witnessed the show said it was an escape from the reality outside the production.
Elizabeth “Lady” Montano congratulated Mac Farlane on a beautiful show and told Loop, “I had a wonderful time.”
The shelter–A Safe House for Victims of Domestic Violence and the Trinidad and Tobago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will receive part of the proceeds of the charity gala. Patrons are also being asked to walk with a gift to be given to an underprivileged child.
