Principal Medical Officer in charge of Institutions, Dr Maryam Abdool- Richards has reiterated her call for members of the public to exercise personal and social responsibility as COVID-19 cases have once again risen.
Speaking at the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s first annual free Health Fair on Saturday, Dr Richards said she would have indicated just one week prior that there had been a consistent increase in the number since July 29.
“We continue to see an increase in hospital numbers as the Honourable Minister would have indicated…and I urge each and every one of you to continue practicing our sanitisation and good habits and behaviours that we would have had.”
Also present on Saturday was CCIC President Richie Sookhai who urged members of the public to adhere to all health protocols as he said the economy as it is, cannot handle another lockdown.
“We know that COVID-19 numbers are going up and necessary precautions must be taken…especially when attending large events. We must remember the entertainment industry, in particular, suffered a tremendous blow and might not survive another lockdown, so everyone must be responsible outside.”
