Roughly a decade ago, friends Sanjeev ‘Buck’ Bahadursingh and Aaron Ramkalawan came together to form what Trinbagonian rock and heavy metal fans know today as Mindscape Laboratory.
The band has since become synonymous in the local rock circles with a high level of musicianship, live execution, and technical proficiency.
Mindscape’s signature progressive sound appeals to a wide audience that extends well beyond traditional local rock fans.
The band launched its debut album Evoz in July 2019 to a sold-out audience but then went on a hiatus shortly after due to the COVID-19 pandemic. June 2022 saw the return of the band for their first gig in three years, repeating the success of their album launch to another sold out audience.
While many bands before them in the local rock scene over the years have always spoken about putting Trinidad on the map when it comes to rock music, the members of Mindscape tend to approach music, writing and performing in a different way.
With each of the members of the band having professional careers in various fields outside of music, ranging from as wide a field from Psychology to Law to Tattoo Artistry, Mindscape Laboratory primarily exists as an outlet for the various members to write and perform music, and express themselves creatively.
In this episode of Caribbean Creators, the members of Mindscape Laboratory speak about themselves using the band as their creative outlet, challenging and pushing themselves to be better musicians, and most importantly having fun and to making sure their fans are having fun.
