One man is dead and four others wounded following a shooting incident in Gonzales on Saturday morning.

According to reports, around 1:20am officers responded to a report of explosions in the Gonzales area.

The officers proceeded to Prosperity Lane, Upper Gonzales where they received information that five men were in a car in the vicinity of Augustine Lane, Gonzales when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle. 

They drove to Prosperity Lane and were rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital.

The men were later identified as Garvin Burke, Josiah Colder, David Williams, Anton Solomon and Akeem Durant.

Williams was pronounced dead at hospital, while the others remain warded.

Enquiries are continuing.
