Police said the body of a man was found in Valencia on Monday night.
Officials said the deceased had yet to be identified up to midday Tuesday, however, once this is done a post-mortem will be ordered to confirm the cause of death.
The deceased was found in a bushy area off Cumaca Road in Valencia around 7.30 pm by a team of officers led by PC Singh and PC Rattansingh.
At the time the officers were responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle driving through the community.
When they arrived they observed the body of a man of African descent lying in some bushes on the western side of the roadway.
The body bore wounds to the head.
The officers notified their seniors and a team of officers led by ASP Fitzworme and Insp Harper responded.
