Trinidad and Tobago swimmer Nikolai Blackman is hard at work preparing for the 8th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Peru.
Blackman is set to compete in the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m freestyle, and the 50m butterfly.
He is currently working under the direction of coach Joseph McLeod.
The championship is set for 30 August to 4 September in Lima, Peru.
Blackman was named First Citizen’s Youth Sportsman of the Year for 2020 and 2021.
He was also named the TTOC Junior Sportsman of the Year for 2021.
The 8th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships was originally planned for 24-29 August 2021 but was postponed due to the COID-19 pandemic.
In April 2022, FINA also announced that Lima would host the event and not Kazan, Russia due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Athletes and officials from Belarus and Russia were also banned from the Championships
A total of 42 events will be staged over six days of competition at the Videna Aquatic Center in Lima.
