Bangladesh beat West Indies by four wickets in the 3rd ODI at Providence to complete a 3-0 sweep.
Captain Nicholas Pooran hit 73 in the West Indies’ total of 178, with Taijul Islam taking 5 for 28.
Litton Das got 50, and Narul Hasan 32 not out as Bangladesh got the win with nine balls to spare.
Gudakesh Motie took 4 for 23, while Alzarri Joseph had 1 for 25.
Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal, who was named Player of the Series, said he was proud of the achievement.
“We have been always a good side at home but this is back-to-back away series’ that we have won I think. I am very proud of the group. It wasn’t the easiest condition you know, though we had the better spinners probably. But the bowlers utilized it extremely well,” Tamim said.
Tamim was high in praise of Taijul Islam, who was named Player of the Match for his five-wicket haul.
“Throughout the tour, he was with the team but did not get a game, came into every practice session but whenever he got the game he finally stepped up. So there are few things we will definitely take back,” said Tamim.
Taijul Islam said he was pleased to get the opportunity with Bangladesh’s resources in the spin department.
“I am very glad that I got the opportunity and I have made full use of it. There was no additional pressure on me. I just tried to stick on to my basics, bowl according to the wicket and that clicked for me,” said Taijul.
Bangladesh won the 1st ODI by six wickets and the second match by nine wickets.
West Indies won the Test series 2-0 and the T20I series 2-0.
West Indies will now play India in a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series.
