While upgrade works to the side-walks, lighting and general street scape continue along Ariapita Avenue, Port of Spain, all other revitalisation works have been halted.
Housing Minister Camille Robinson-Regis noted concerns from Woodbrook residents on the some of the proposed works for the upgrade of Ariapita Avenue and some areas of Woodbrook.
In particular, people objected to some works for the police post and bathroom facilities, even after five consultations with stakeholders.
Robinson-Regis said: “It is clear that we need to have further consultations as there still seems to be some misunderstandings, particularly in relation to the proposed works for Adam Smith Square.
In conjunction with the Minister, the MP and UDECOTT we will arrange to have another meeting at the earliest convenience with these residents to try and alleviate their concerns. I have therefore asked for these works to be halted pending this meeting.”
She noted that the other upgrades will continue in the meantime.
