US independent Apache has failed to discover hydrocarbons with the latest exploration drive offshore Suriname, as the Rasper-1 wildcat in Block 53 struck water.
Block 53 is located immediately to the north-east of Block 58, where Apache and project partner TotalEnergies made a string of shallow-water discoveries that may result in the first offshore commercial development in the country.
In a brief update, Apache said Rasper-1 encountered water-bearing reservoirs in Campanian and Santonian-aged intervals.
