Prime Minister Gaston Browne met with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the recently concluded Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to discuss a series of matters of concern for both countries.
The Canadian Government provided a read-out of the meeting and it said: “Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Browne agreed to work together to advance shared priorities in response to the many crises facing the world.”
Browne and Trudeau condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and agreed the Commonwealth should work together to defend democracy, peace and security, and human rights.
Both leaders noted the invasion is “undermining access to food and energy across the Commonwealth” and have agreed to work together to improve food security, tackle climate change and create opportunities for the youth.
The economic recovery of Caribbean states and access to sustainable financing were also discussed.
