86 new cases of COVID-19; Stann Creek district and Belize City dominate new cases

By BBN Staff: With 86 new cases of COVID-19 detected after 241 samples were processed, a total of 5,335 cases have tested positive to date in Belize. 46 of the 86 new cases were detected in the Stann Creek district, and 21 were detected in Belize City. The Cayo district recorded another 13 cases today.

The detailed distribution of cases is as follows:

Corozal – 4 (2 Corozal Town, 1 San Narciso, 1 San Pedro Village)

Belize – 23 (21 Belize City, 1 Ladyville, 1 from OW Town)

Cayo – 13 (2 Santa Elena, 4 Benque Viejo, 3 Bullet Tree Falls, 2 Santa Familia, 2 Central Farm)

Stann Creek – 46 (5 Dangriga, 7 Independence, 4 Santa Rosa, 3 Red Bank, 3 San Pablo, 3 Maya Mopan, 1 San Isidro, 1 Thatch Caye, 1 Mayan King, 1 South Stann Creek, 9 from Bella Vista TOL, 1 from Trio TOL, 1 from Bladden TOL, 1 from Santa Cruz TOL, 1 from Punta Gorda TOL, 1 from Progresso CZ, 1 from BZ City, 1 from Santa Elena CY, 1 from Benque Viejo CY)

There were 22 recovered reported today increasing the tally of recovered cases to 2,899 while leaving 2,311 cases active.

In today’s COVID-19 update, the Director of Health Services highlighted “the relevance of consistent physical distancing and proper mask wearing at all  times” to all Belizeans.
